Over the last couple of days we’ve been struggling with some technical difficulties on the site, and at the worst possible time. We just launched the website and have gotten some much needed traffic during the holiday shopping season. First of all, I’d like to apologize to everyone who has become frustrated. Most of you have been very understanding and patient, and I want you to know how much we appreciate you. We couldn’t do this without you.
Some truly wonderful people have helped me diagnose and fix the issue (a malfunctioning plug-in). The technical support for our hosting service isn’t bad, but it was community support from other people, mostly in Facebook groups, that really helped the most. For Sam and I, owning a business is about building community relationships, both online and locally. The people who have always supported and believed in us have been small business people, entrepreneurs, friends, and family.
With the launch of the website we have also experienced an outpouring of support from bloggers, YouTubers, and podcasters that has been truly moving. It is one thing to experience love and support from your local community, and people you have built relationships with over many years. We never expected it from the massive, and sometimes impersonal Internet. Yet, we’ve managed to build connections and relationships with people who we have never met in person, and only known for a short period of time.
This is a time of year to appreciate the close personal relationships in our lives, but also the new friendships we’ve formed. As the year comes to a close, we look forward to new possibilities. Here at Northwoods Drink Stones, Sam and I are raising our glasses to you. We hope your holidays are filled with joy!
